For the past two and a half years, we have been planning, designing and building a new medical clinic at Iburu, a rural village about 45 minutes drive southeast of Kaduna. When this clinic is completed, we will be able to serve many thousands of rural poor people who have no access to medical care presently. This new new clinic is the product of a three-way partnership. the local village chief (who is a Muslim) donated the land to the Anglican Diocese of Kaduna with the stipulation that the diocese would build and run a medical clinic here. Kateri Medical Services has raised most of the funds to build the clinic. Kaduna Diocese Also raised funds to expand the size of the new clinic. When the clinic is completed, Kateri Medical Services will fund a doctor and two CHEWs (community health extension workers) for a period of five years.
This past summer (July/August of 2015) we held our first medical outreach at the new clinic. This was in partnership with FaithCare and the Diocese of Kaduna Annual Medical Outreach.
