International mission is challenging at best and can seem overwhelming during times of crisis. The Covid pandemic has put developing third world countries into an even deeper level of insecurity. How do we, as partners, navigate this latest challenge? What solutions can be brought to light?
The evening started with a meet and greet in the reception hall at the Cathedral in Bloomfield Connecticut.
The Kateri Benefit Dinner only happens every three years. In 2016 we had 175+ people in attendance who reached deep into their hearts and wallets.
It would be a shame to miss this musical performance of the Tapestry Singers of Connecticut at the Kateri Med Benefit Dinner.
We met Bishop Markus in 2016 at Jakaranda retreat center where he was one of the speakers during a clergy conference for the diocese of Kaduna. During this time we had extensive discussions with him about how we might develop a partnership.
The tapestry Singers hosted a benefit concert for Kateri Medical Services this past weekend.
Thank you to all of our generous donors over the past 16 years, we are serving more people than ever before. We are now operating four full-time, year round medical facilities in Kateri, Iburu, Gidan Waya, and Gusau, Nigeria. We served more than 9,000 people in 2018 and that number is expected to grow in 2019 as our two newest clinics reach their potential.
Letter from Rev. Thomas J. Furrer, President and Executive Director:
Every year the Tapestry Singers holds a concert to help raise funds for our medical mission in Nigeria. This money is used to purchase medicine and medical equipment needed for the Summer outreach.
This is a free concert open to the community. There will be a concert on Saturday, June 2 at 7pm as well as a second concert on Sunday, June 3 at 2pm. A freewill offering will be collected afterwards.
This concert has been held for the past 10 years and has raised over $50,000 to support the clinics in Nigeria.
Please share this event with your friends and family, we look forward to seeing you!
Dear Friends and Supporters,
I wanted to let you know about our donations and pledges from our Benefit Dinner. So far, we have received $88,000 in one-time gifts and three – year pledges. In addition to this, we had $6,000 from our corporate sponsors (which effectively paid for the entire dinner) for a total to date of $94,000. There are still pledges coming in, so this is not a final number. But this is a very good result. Thank you again to everyone who helped us. This is a great encouragement and guarantees that we will have the funds needed to continue our ministry and to grow it over the next three years. Please keep praying for the pledges yet to come in. We are working on one opportunity that has great potential. Pray fervently. Thank you all again for your generous offering to time, talent and treasure. I am so very grateful to all of you for all that you have done. Grateful beyond words. Sincerely yours in Christ, Fr. Tom |
