Dear friends and supporters, The last two years have been very challenging for billions of people in all parts of the world. And our six partner clinics in Nigeria are no exception. In addition to the Covid pandemic, the security situation in most parts of Nigeria has gotten dramatically worse. Kidnapping, armed robbery, ethnic violence and terrorist activities have affected almost everyone. It creates a climate of fear which cripples the normal routines of life and hinders the mission of schools, hospitals and other institutions. All of our clinics have felt the effect of this security crisis. One of our clinics has been forced to restrict its services to daylight hours only. The doctor took another position in the city for the safety of his family and the clinic is now being run by the head nurse, whose family lives nearby. No doctor has been willing to join our staff there. And yet, in spite of all of these challenges, our clinics are helping more people than ever before. Here are the cumulative total patients for all of our clinics, a 35% annual increase in patients served from 2019 to 2021. TOTAL PATIENTS FOR ALL CLINICS
2019 (pre-Covid) — 8,799 2020 — 11,562 2021 — 11,905 That is the good news. The bad news is that we have been forced to cancel all of our mobile clinics to rural villages and we have not been able to hold a medical outreach in more than two years. TOTAL MEDICAL OUTREACH MISSIONS AND MOBILE CLINICS 2019 — 10,262 2020 — 349 2021 — 2,873
