Zumuntan Mata ( Women's Choir ) at St. Stephen's Anglican Church, Kafanchan Nigeria.
Most Anglican Churches in northern Nigeria have at least three singing groups ( 1. traditional choir singing traditional Western style hymns, 2. praise band with guitars, drums, horns and keyboards singing praise songs familiar to American evangelical and pentecostal churches and 3. Women's Choir, singing in the local language with traditional African drums ). The services are exuberant, joyful, emotional, loud and long ( never less than 3 hours). And never boring.
The three traditional African drums used by Zumuntan Mata ( women's choir) in Anglican Churches in northern Nigeria. In small rural churches, these are the only musical instruments. In city churches, there are organs and electric guitars and keyboards on addition to the traditional drums.
